Stamford Firefighters Tackle House Fire In Frigid Temperatures

STAMFORD, Conn. — Firefighters in Stamford worked in the frigid cold to douse a fire in a home on Hazel Street in Stamford on Sunday evening, fire officials said via Twitter.

"Thanks to StamfordPolice, StamfordEMS [and] RedCross for their assistance at structure fire on Hazel Street," Stamford Fire said via Twitter @SFDPIO. "Firefighters working in frigid temps & very congested area, brought fire under control very quickly. Grateful for support from our partners."

The fire in the two-family home was reported at about 8 p.m.

Firefighters requested an extra engine to battle the fire in the residential neighborhood on Stamford's West Side, Twitter reports said. 

The fire in the two-story home on New Year's Eve fire was quickly brought under control, according to the fire department.
